Malaysian lawyer denies chat in sensational video
The lawyer at the centre of a Malaysian inquiry into judicial corruption on Monday denied having a conversation with a former chief justice purportedly captured on video.
The taped conversation of judicial appointments apparently being brokered over the telephone, released by dissident former premier Anwar Ibrahim last year, triggered a furore in Malaysia.
But lawyer V.K. Lingam, who has been identified as the man in the video, said he had never spoken on the phone to Ahmad Fairuz Sheikh Abdul Halim, who then held the nation's number-three legal post.
In the video, Lingam is allegedly heard assuring Ahmad Fairuz that he would push him forward for the number-two legal position, with the help of a prominent businessman and a politician.
"I do not know who I was talking to. But certainly I was not talking to Ahmad Fairuz," Lingam told the inquiry.
"Until today I have not spoken to Ahmad Fairuz over the telephone.
"I can't recollect when this conversation took place," he said.
Lingam refused to directly confirm that he was the man in the video, said to be made in December 2001, admitting only that "it looks like me, the voice sounds like me".
Ahmad Fairuz went on to be appointed to the number-two post and was then quickly elevated to the top position of chief justice. He completed his term and stood down last year.
The maker of the video clip, 34-year-old businessman Loh Gwo Burne, also appeared before the inquiry and said it was recorded when he went to Lingam's house to discuss a legal matter.
"Yes, I recorded V.K. Lingam speaking on the telephone," he said, dismissing suggestions that the lawyer was drunk at the time or that he could have been play-acting..............
Which crook would want to admit he is the crook? Ahmad Fairuz gained so much and not forgetting Lingam the BIG SHOT. Even if he have not spoken to Ahmad at all until today, it's because these kind of people have mutual understanding.

Malaysian Muslim leader annoyed over sexes mixing: report
The chief of Malaysia's only Islamic-run state has ordered stricter enforcement of laws requiring men and women to queue at separate counters in shops, a report said Tuesday.
Kelantan state chief minister Nik Aziz Nik Mat said the laws were required to curb social ills like public kissing between young couples, and to protect women from being groped while queuing up...........
Crazy old fart politician. Just because he is from the ruling party he thinks he can do anything. Must be because there are to many GROPERS in Kelantan.

Malaysia bans foreigners from hotel frontlines
Malaysia will ban hotels from hiring foreigners in frontline positions, bringing them into line with airports which are also subject to the order aimed at reducing migrant labour, an official said Tuesday.
Victor Wee, secretary general for the tourism ministry, defended the directive on positions that involve direct contact with customers, saying hotels should not rely on cheap foreign labour.
"We want more Malaysians working as frontliners in hotels instead of foreigners. There are many Malaysians unemployed and employers should be prepared to pay more," Wee told AFP.
"We'd like to implement policies to the benefit of Malaysians," he said.
The government last week said it would also ban foreigners from working as porters, baggage handlers and even toilet cleaners at all airports in an effort to cut down on migrant labour........
Everytime new policy is introduced after many, many people have suffered. I was forced to switch my job because of this. Just think, many, many companies have sought to employ cheap labour (foriegners) resulting many, many of us unemployed. Think about the many people who worked in factories who lost their job due to foriegn labour intake.

Taiwan Trip 2006

Inside the stadium, players are busy returning the ball.

This one of the view just outside the (xxxxxxx) tennis indoor stadium. Weather at that time was windy, blowing very fine rain drops almost like snow.
This one is another views more the left side, close to the main entrance.
This one is at the (xxxxxxx) Tennis Centre. A fine weather hovers above the atmosphere. Quad Division Final. Too bad I did not make it through the sencond round.
Beautiful public park to have a walk or cycle just outside the tennis stadium.
